About
JAMN JAZZ PRODUCTIONS
JAMN Jazz Productions was founded in 2007 by Stu Siefer, Woody Wilson and Roy Hoyt as an organization dedicated to the promotion and
presentation of live jazz in the Phoenix Metro area with initial emphasis on the Mill Avenue District in Tempe. Its first endeavor was “Live Jazz at Monti’s Back Door” located in the back room of Tempe’s historic steak house. A Monday evening series featuring the Valley’s top jazz instrumentalists and vocalists, it became an instant success averaging over 60 visitors a night for the first season. It continues with a loyal following to this day.
In 2008, JAMN Jazz began a new series at the award-winning Tempe Center for the Arts located on the shore of scenic Tempe Town Lake. Taking advantage of the Center’s three beautiful 200-600 seat venues, JAMN Jazz Productions was hired to book a jazz series featuring several top national jazz performers like east coast horn men, Marcus Printup and Conrad Herwig, pianist Benny Green, and jazz-blues man Mose Allison, as well as some the Valley’s best local stars like Dennis Rowland
and Judy Roberts. Former JAMN partner, Woody Wilson is continuing this series as Lakeshore Producers LLC.
Also in 2009, JAMN Jazz Productions began a new jam session series at Monti’s on Sunday nights called Jazz Improv Night. Led by ASU jazz instructor, guitarist Jeff Libman and his trio, the jam has become a popular hang for students in the ASU and community college jazz program, as well as jazz pros and amateurs.
JAMN Jazz will continue to bring top quality jazz performances to additional venues as they are requested.
